Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about First Responder Soccer Academy, the Championship Series and how to take part.

What is First Responder Soccer Academy?

First Responder Soccer Academy is the national body for first responder soccer in Australia and the governing organisation of the First Responder Soccer Academy Championship Series. It exists to build connection between the people who show up when it matters most, using soccer as a shared, structured environment where every uniform meets as equals.

Who can play?

Current and former first responders from every service can play — Police, Fire and Rescue, Ambulance, SES, Marine Rescue, Border Force, Defence Force and Army personnel, Doctors, Nurses, and volunteer first responders. Players join an approved team that represents their service or organisation.

Which agencies take part?

Teams come from across the emergency services and health community: Police, Fire and Rescue, Ambulance, SES, Marine Rescue, Border Force, Defence Force and Army, plus Doctors, Nurses and volunteer first responders. The team directory on the Teams page lists every registered team.

How do I register a team?

Use the Register a Team page to apply to enter your first responder organisation into the Championship Series. The Academy office reviews every application, and once approved your team appears in the directory and can enter competition.

How do I join a team as a player?

Go to the Join a Team page, search or browse every active team, and send a join request to the team that fits your service. The team's approved leads review your request, and once accepted you appear on the team roster.

Can I join as a fan?

Yes. The Join as a Fan page lets family, friends and supporters register and follow a team. Fans get their own dashboard to follow team news and community posts without being a player.

Which states is it in, and how do I register interest for my state?

The competition is live in Western Australia, with other states and territories coming soon. If your state is not live yet, visit your state's page and submit the expression of interest form so the Academy can contact you when it launches.

What is the First Responder Cup?

The First Responder Cup is the single highest honour in Australian first responder soccer — one Cup, one champion. A ranked pathway lets any approved team climb through results on the pitch to challenge the reigning champion for the trophy.

How do fixtures, results and rankings work?

Fixtures and completed results are published on the Events page. Confirmed results feed the live league table on the Rankings page, which tracks played, won, drawn, lost, goals and points for every team.

Does it cost anything?

The Academy's website does not publish a price list. To find out about any costs for registering a team or joining as a player or fan, contact the Academy at firstrespondersocceracademy@gmail.com.

How does the Academy support player wellbeing?

Wellbeing is at the heart of the Academy: it is a community built by and for the people who spend their lives caring for others. The Academy provides a place to reconnect, recover and know one team always has your back, with wellbeing woven into the competition and its community programs.

How can my organisation sponsor or partner?

Visit the Support and Partnerships page to offer kit, transport, equipment, catering or wellbeing support to first responder teams. Submit the enquiry form and the Academy office will review it and get in touch.

How do I contact you?

Email the Academy at firstrespondersocceracademy@gmail.com. You can also use the enquiry forms on the Support and Partnerships and Sports Register pages for specific topics.
